Organisers of the Indian Racing Festival are working on plans to host a round on the streets of Goa. Akhilesh Reddy, chairman and MD of Racing Promotions Private Limited (RPPL), confirmed that the Department of Tourism, Goa, has given primary approval for a Goa street circuit.

“We are in the process of approaching and taking approvals from all the stakeholders and concerned authorities,” Reddy added.

Indian Racing League, F4 India looking at more street circuits

The F4 Indian Championship and Indian Racing League run as part of the Indian Racing Festival. The idea is to put into place a ladder for young racers to break into international racing.

After racing on permanent tracks, like the Madras International Circuit and Kari Motor Speedway, the series added a street circuit to its calendar for the very first time last year, with the new Chennai street circuit making its debut. Despite a few hiccups, the event achieved what it set out to do – bring attention to the Indian Racing Festival.

For future seasons, Reddy says the series is “concentrating on doing as many street circuits as possible”. Goa will be the latest addition; however, there is no confirmation on whether it will be a part of the 2025 season, which is expected to get underway in August.

“We have shortlisted six layouts, but we have to see on the ground how feasible they are,” Reddy revealed. “At the same time, we have to make sure that it’s going to be minimalistic trouble for the local people where the race is happening because the roads will be closed completely for two days.”

Actor and Indian Racing League team owner John Abraham was also present at the announcement. After winning the Indian Racing League last year with his team, Goa Aces JA Racing, Abraham said he’s keen to race on home turf.

“[I’m] very excited to get this to Goa because we believe the Indian Racing League is an international format. Goa is an international destination, and for me particularly, being the owner of Goa Aces and proudly having my own racing team, I want it to happen on my home turf.”
