I am planning to buy hatchback but confused between i20 optional and toyota glanza V which will be best choice ?

I currently own a Honda City automatic and am planning to switch to a hatchback for city driving. I’m debating between the Maruti Baleno automatic and the Toyota Glanza automatic. Which one would be the better choice for my needs?

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Toyota Glanza are the same car underneath. Both hatchbacks get the exact same powertrain and features, so it comes down to which dealer offers a better deal. If you get a good deal or shorter waiting time on the Toyota Glanza, go for it.

I have two cars: one is a Skoda Slavia, and the other is a 5-year-old Hyundai Grand i10 Nios Sportz automatic. My monthly running is around 1,000-1,200 km. What would be a better choice for my second car?

With a monthly running of 1,000-1,200 km and a 5-year-old Hyundai Grand i10 Nios automatic as your second car, the decision comes down to whether the car is still serving its purpose well. The Nios is a reliable, easy-to-drive city car with low running costs, and at 5 years old it is still well within its prime ownership window. If the car is mechanically sound and meeting your needs, there is no strong reason to replace it purely based on age.But if you are considering an upgrade, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno or Toyota Glanza are the most sensible choices. Both are spacious, comfortable hatchbacks with excellent reliability, low maintenance costs and strong resale value. The Baleno offers a slightly wider service network, while the Glanza benefits from Toyota's ownership experience. Both are powered by the same 1.2-litre petrol engine, which is smooth, efficient and well-suited to your driving. Thus, if you do want a change, the Baleno or Glanza would be the most practical and reliable upgrade.

I am looking for a petrol car under Rs. 10 lakh. My requirements are rear AC vents, a good infotainment system, and safety features. My usage is around 50-60 km per week, with occasional highway driving. Is the Altroz Creative a good choice, or would you suggest any other options?

Yes, the Tata Altroz Creative is a good choice for your requirements. With a weekly running of 50-60km and only occasional highway use, a petrol hatchback is the right segment to be looking at. The Altroz Creative offers rear AC vents, a good infotainment system and a strong safety rating, which directly matches your priorities. It also has a comfortable ride and a solid, premium feel for the price. The only thing to be aware of is that the naturally aspirated petrol engine is adequate for city driving but can feel a bit underpowered on the highway, especially during overtakes. Given your usage pattern, this is unlikely to be a major issue. The Maruti Baleno/Toyota Glanza are other options, offering a spacious cabin, smoother petrol engines, stronger performance, and better fuel efficiency.

My wife and I are senior citizens and have both undergone knee replacement surgery. I have seen the Toyota Glanza, and its rear seats seem comfortable to me. I have also considered the Volkswagen Taigun. Both are petrol manual cars and will be driven by a chauffeur. Please give your opinion.

Since your priority is rear-seat comfort and ease of ingress and egress, the Toyota Glanza is the better fit. The rear seat is well cushioned, the floor is relatively flat, there is plenty of room, and the door aperture is generous, making it easier to get in and out. However, the rear seat is on the lower side, which means it isn't quite as easy to get in and out of as a Wagon R. Try getting in and out of the Glanza a few times and see if it bothers you. In terms of ease of ingress and egress, the Tata Punch is the better choice. The doors open wide, the seat is higher so you aren't stepping down, which should be kinder on your knees, and the rear seat itself is comfortable, though not as roomy as the Glanza. The Volkswagen Taigun is a good car, but the ride is firmer. It is also a larger and more powerful car, which does not really add any benefit if it is being chauffeur-driven. The Taigun price starts at Rs 11.00 lakh (ex-showroom).You can also consider Maruti Suzuki Baleno. Apart from the badging and some interior trim, it is exactly the same car as the Glanza, but costs nearly a lakh less.

Toyota Glanza FAQs

The CNG variants of the Glanza are more expensive than their equivalent petrol variants, and are not offered with the AMT gearbox option either. However, the Glanza CNG is cheaper to run overall, so if lower fuel costs are important to you, then it's worth paying the premium.

The Glanza AMT is much easier and more convenient to drive than the MT, especially for new drivers. However, AMT variants of the Glanza are more expensive up front, yield slightly lower real-world mileage, and the gearbox isn't the smoothest either. If convenience is the ultimate criteria, go for the Glanza AMT, but otherwise it's better to go with the MT.
