Yes, the Mahindra Thar Roxx is one of the most accessible hardcore off-road-focused SUVs in India. While the lower-spec variants get a standard RWD setup, the higher-spec MX5, AX5L and AX7L variants are offered with a 4WD setup with a dedicated low-range transfer case. To further enhance its traction, Mahindra offers these 4WD variants with '4Xplor' drive modes (Snow, Sand, Mud), Brake Locking Differential, a low-speed crawl mode and 'Intelliturn' that brakes the outward wheels for a shorter turning radius. All of this works in tandem to make the Thar Roxx a very capable off-roader.  

For a body-on-frame SUV, the Mahindra Thar Roxx offers a good balance between ride and handling. However, it is not as good as a monocoque SUV, and at slow speeds the ride feels lumpy, and contact patches and mild undulations can be felt inside the cabin as speeds increase. However, its soft suspension, ample ground clearance and massive wheels allow it to cruise through potholes and rough roads with relative ease, offering a decent ride on all types of roads. 

The 5-seater Mahindra Thar Roxx's rear seats are comfortable, offering good under-thigh support and ample legroom. The cabin width and flat floor allow 3 average-sized individuals to sit abreast comfortably. However, the excessive lower back cushioning protrudes a bit, but it isn't something that makes long drives uncomfortable. 

Three areas where the Mahindra Thar Roxx, despite being a new-age SUV, lacks refinement are ride and handling, low fuel economy and a lack of ample storage spaces inside. While the ride and quality disadvantage is mainly due to its body-on-frame platform that keeps the ride busy on all roads, the l big and powerful engines mean fuel economy is not a strength. The diesel offers 10-12kpl fuel efficiency, while the petrol generally offers a single-digit mileage. The in-cabin practicality is also not good, as it does not offer a lot of storage spaces. 

Yes, the Mahindra Thar Roxx, like the manufacturer's other SUVs, is loaded with features to its gills. It gets a panoramic sunroof, two 10.25-inch screens, a wireless phone charger, a powered driver's seat, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera and Level-2 ADAS. Being an off-road-focused SUV, these features in the Thar Roxx make it more practical and appealing for urban buyers too. 

The Mahindra Thar Roxx is a do-it-all SUV which not only excels in hardcore off-roading but is also reasonable for families and urban buyers due to its loaded feature suite and easy drive experience. Like other Mahindra offerings, the Thar Roxx is available at a reasonable price point. While at the same price point, Force offers the Gurkha, but it still feels rudimentary in comparison to the Thar Roxx. All of this makes the Mahindra Thar Roxx a value-for-money offering. 

The Thar Roxx's turbo-petrol and diesel engines are almost on par in terms of performance, but the diesel excels with slightly better fuel efficiency and more torque. The diesel is also available with a 4WD option, which is recommended if you are going to go off-road often. So, even though the turbo-petrol Thar Roxx is more affordable, it is the diesel that the diesel variants make more sense in the long run. 

The Mahindra Thar Roxx's AX5L variant offers a lot of value at its price point. It offers two 10.25-inch displays, Level-2 ADAS, a rear parking camera with sensors and 4WD-specific features like Intelliturn and Smart Crawl. However, if you do not want to have ADAS and are on a tight budget, the MX5 is a good value-for-money trim which covers the basic feature suite, while also offering a 4WD option with the diesel-manual variant. 

At 447 litres, the Mahindra Thar Roxx offers a decent boot space for its size. It can accommodate a large duffle bag, a medium-sized trolley, a couple of check-in backpacks and a few medium-sized boxes. While monocoque SUVs in its price point offer better boot space, what the Thar Roxx offers is commendable since the 3-door Thar offers very little luggage carrying capacity. 

Both the turbo-petrol and diesel engines on the Mahindra Thar Roxx are oil burners, not returning good fuel economy. However, the diesel is still the better option as it offers double-digit mileage numbers if enthusiasm is kept in check sometimes. While it may not have the highway manners associated with other monocoque SUVs at its price point, the Thar Roxx shines through its robustness that eats up everything the road throws at it, making it a choiceable SUV despite its lower fuel economy.
