Denza D9
Denza is the posh arm of Chinese automaker BYD, and the D9 luxury MPV is mechanically comparable to the latter’s Xia model that’s sold in China. Reaching Indian soil either around Diwali 2026 or in February 2027, the Denza D9 will compete directly against the MG M9, and perhaps even rival the Toyota Vellfire. While official prices are still sometime away, the Denza D9 is likely to arrive with a price tag of around Rs 80 lakh and Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom), depending on the variant and powertrain option. The D9 luxury MPV will come as completely built units (CBUs), with the parent brand likely to set up exclusive Denza dealerships.
The Denza D9 is available globally in plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and fully electric guises, with India expected to get the latter. The international-spec D9 electric MPV can be had in either front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations, while seating for 7 occupants is standard across trims. Powering the FWD Denza D9 EV is a single electric motor that produces 313hp and 360Nm, while the dual-motor AWD version makes 374hp and 470Nm. Under the cabin is a 103.36kWh BYD Blade battery, allowing a WLTC claimed range of up to 520km.
The Denza D9 has a large and upright silhouette, featuring a flat roofline and straight beltline, a massive sealed-off front grille flanked by sleek LED headlamps, 18-inch alloy wheels, powered & soft-closing sliding doors, and full-width rear lights with 3D-style LED elements. The interior of the D9 can be had in all-brown or all-beige colour theme, Nappa leather upholstery, wood inserts and suede trim, plus powered seats with ventilation and memory functions.

Denza D9 price & variants
While the global-spec Denza D9 is available in both plug-in hybrid and pure-electric versions, the India-spec model is expected to be the latter, at least in the initial stages. On the price front, the entry-level variant of the Denza D9 EV could have an on-road price of around Rs 85.21 lakh, varying based on your location.
The exact variant coming to India isn’t known yet, but the fully electric D9 is globally offered in single-motor FWD and dual-motor AWD configurations. Compared to the top-spec MG M9 variant currently sold in our market, the global-spec Denza D9 gets a larger battery pack and a higher WLTP-claimed range. If offered with AWD, the D9 will offer more performance and extra range over the FWD M9.

Denza D9 FAQs
The MG M9 offers buyers plenty of interior space, premium cabin materials, good fit & finish, loads of comfort-oriented features, great sound isolation, and an imposing presence on the outside. Considering that the Denza M9 is likely to be pricier than the M9 and that it would be a while before the Denza brand establishes itself, going for the MG M9 right away wouldn't be a bad choice.
If Denza brings the all-wheel-drive (AWD) version of the D9 to India, its two electric motors offer plenty more power than what the single-motor MG M9 can manage. Given its claimed 0-100kph time of 6.9 seconds, the D9 AWD variant will provide better overall performance.
