If you like your cars flamboyant, the understated Audi A4 will not do it for you. It’s very business-like both on the outside and on the inside. The interior scores high for quality and is also user-friendly – the low-set dash, for instance, allows a great view out. The facelift has also introduced Audi's new MMI touch interface, replacing the click-wheel and touch pad with a new touchscreen. Front seat comfort is good and while rear-seat ingress isn’t the most convenient, there’s a good deal of space in the back. The A4’s new 2.0-litre TFSI turbo petrol engine with 190hp is a huge improvement on the old 150hp 1.4-litre petrol engine that was offered before the facelift. It offers the same level of refinement, but with far more usable power, befitting a car in this class. What distinguishes the A4 is its ride quality. The suspension soaks up the worst of our roads with ease, and there’s none of that European car firmness in the setup.
