Volkswagen India's plant in Chakan, Pune has been manufacturing and exporting the Vento to Mexico for almost 2 years now. Today, the facility shipped its 1,00,000th model to the North American country. The car that helped achieve this milestone was a red Vento, powered by a 1.6-litre MPI engine.
Carsten Goransch, Executive Director – Logistics, Volkswagen India Private Limited stated, “Highest quality is in the DNA of Volkswagen around the world. We, in Pune, have been building world-class cars which have resulted in high demand for our products in the global market. The 1,00,000th car that we have shipped to Mexico today is a testimony to this fact. It makes us all at the Pune plant extremely proud of what we have achieved so far.”
The ‘Made-in-India' Vento is one of the most successful cars in the Mexican market and is also the highest sold Volkswagen in the market currently. Another model from the company that has seen such success is the Polo, also built at the Chakan plant.
Volkswagen India currently exports left-hand and right-hand drive versions of the Polo and Vento to over 30 countries in Asia and Africa.
