Hyundai has released a preview sketch of the Tucson SUV before it makes its global debut at the Geneva motor show next month. The new model is set to replace the current ix35 in Hyundai's international line-up.

The sketch of the new Tucson reveals that the model will carry many of the design hallmarks seen in the Hyundai range, particularly their large central grille, most recently seen on the new Genesis.

The five-door Tucson is described by the firm’s design boss, Peter Schreyer, as “a big step forward for the Hyundai brand globally.” He also added that the new model "has a bold and athletic presence and a proud stance.”

Hyundai plans to bring back the Tucson name for the SUV - which officials say will be sold in global markets - after retiring the original Tucson name in 2010 with the launch of the ix35.

Rivals for the new Tucson will include the Nissan Qashqai, Kia Sportage and Skoda Yeti.
