The production version of the Toyota C-HR concept has been unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show. The model is based on Toyota’s New Global Architecture (TNGA), which is shared with the new Prius, and makes use of hybrid power.

The five-door crossover has a funky design, and features bulging wheel-arches, angular lights and a coupé-like roofline.

As promised by Toyota, the crossover is the first hybrid in this class, and is powered by a hybridised 120bhp, 1.8-litre petrol engine. Toyota will also offer a 113bhp, turbocharged 1.2-litre petrol engine on the C-HR. Select markets are also expected to receive a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor. Transmission duties will be handled by either a six-speed manual, or a CVT automatic gearbox with all-wheel-drive as optional. It will be positioned below the RAV4 in Toyota's lineup in the international markets.

A racing version of the C-HR has also been revealed, and will race at the Nürburgring endurance event this May.

The C-HR will reach European showrooms in the latter half of this year, while the US will receive the car in 2016. Rivals include crossovers like the Fiat 500X, Jeep Renegade, Mazda CX-3 and Nissan Juke.
