Nissan new compact SUV, the Terrano, is set to be launched on October 9 in India. The latest entrant into the popular compact SUV segment in India will take on the likes of the Ford EcoSport and its own Alliance partner, the Renault Duster (which it’s based on).

The Nissan Terrano however, isn’t just a badge-engineered Renault Duster. The carmaker has incorporated sheet metal changes to the car’s design to make it look more like other Nissan SUVs. This includes different bumpers, tailgate, headlamps, tail-lights and an all-new grille that defines it as a Nissan. The interiors are mostly the same as the Renault Duster’s, though.

In terms of engine options, it gets the same set as the Duster. So expect the 1.5-litre DCi diesel to be available in two states of tune – 84bhp and 109bhp, as well as a 1.6-litre petrol engine mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.

Expect prices for the lower-powered 84bhp diesel to start at around Rs 9.15 lakh for the base XE trim, going up to around Rs 11.66 lakh for the top-spec XL Plus trim. For the 108.5bhp diesel, expect Terrano prices to start at around Rs 11.15 lakh for the base XL trim, stretching to around Rs 12.83 lakh for the XV Premium. The 1.6-litre petrol should come with a price tag of around Rs 8.39 lakh for the XL trim.

(All prices estimated, ex-showroom, Delhi)
