Nissan India has launched a diesel-powered version of the Sunny. The Sunny Diesel is available in two trim levels, base XL and the higher-spec XV.  Customers can book the car from Nissan dealers all over India.

The XL, priced at Rs 7.98 lakh gets body-coloured bumpers, an on-board drive computer, manually adjustable anti-dazzling mirror, ABS with EBD and Brake Assistance, driver and passenger side airbags, body-coloured and electronically adjustable outside rear-view mirrors, chrome-plated outside door handles and radiator grille, steering-mounted audio controls, rear A/C vents and remote keyless entry.

While the top-end XV, priced at Rs 8.78 lakh, gets all of the above, plus alloy wheels and electronically folding rear-view mirrors.

The Sunny diesel is powered by the same 1.5-litre doing duty in the Nissan Micra, but in a different state of tune. The 4-cylinder, 1461cc diesel motor (Codename: K9K) now churns out 84.8bhp of power @ 3750 rpm and maximum torque of 20.39kgm @ 2000 rpm. It’s coupled with a five-speed manual gearbox.

According to Nissan, this diesel motor has an ARAI Certified fuel efficiency of 21.64kpl. India is the first market where the Sunny is being sold with a K9K diesel engine.

The tenth-generation Nissan Sunny is based on the popular V (Versatile) platform, the same as the one used in the Nissan Micra. The Sunny made its global debut at the eighth International Automobile Exhibition in China (Guangzhou) last December.
