The workers’ strike called on June 4 at Maruti’s Manesar plant ended today after 13 days. Eleven workers, who were earlier sacked, were reinstated, and work is expected to resume tomorrow. However, there has been no decision made yet on forming a separate union.

About 1,200 cars, a good number of them diesel variants, are produced daily at the plant by 2,000 employees. Production from Maruti’s Gurgaon plant did not face any problems, since operations there were not affected by the strike.

Maruti Suzuki is in the process of setting up two new plants in Manesar with a cumulative annual production capacity of 5 lakh units.
