SLS AMG coming to APS 2010

Mercedes' latest supercar, the SLS AMG will be showcased at the Autocar Performance Show 2010 o be held on November 18, 2010 at Bandra-Kurla complex, Mumbai. The SLS AMG will be a part of the jaw-dropping lineup of exotics at the event.

The car was first displayed at the Auto Expo in January. The car sports a puristic sports car design on the exterior complemented by aviation-inspired interior designs.

In terms of technology, the car is powered by a modified AMG 6.3-litre V8, equipped with an  AMG speedshift DCT 7-speed sports transmission, AMG speed-sensitive sports steering and the light yet rigid aluminium space frame. The SLS AMG is the first independently developed vehicle by AMG in its illustrious history that spans over 40 years.

India is among the first right-hand-drive markets to launch the Gullwing within the first few weeks of its production (first RHD production: June 2010).

In the luxury segment, only Audi has introduced its R8 as a CBU. Even as Audi has stolen the thunder from its rivals in the luxury segment by launching a slew of luxury SUVs, the launch of the SLS AMG is clearly an attempt to boost the Mercedes brand in the market at a time when the Audi has turned the heat on its rivals.
