Land Rover has announced updates for the Range Rover and the Range Rover Sport, which include added features and tweaks to the engines, improving their performance and efficiency.
The new feature now being offered across the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models, excluding the SDV6 Hybrid Sport, is the new ATPC (All Terrain Progress Control) system which allows cruise control functionality to drivers on off-road terrain. The driver gets to set the speed between 1-31kph. Land Rover claims that the ATPC can be used across a wide variety of terrain, managing braking and torque sent to each wheel to get the maximum traction on each surface. The ATPC system costs 175 pounds (approx. Rs 17,000).
The other updates come to the 3.0-litre, six cylinder TDV6 and SDV6 engines. The TDV6 now gets a single turbocharger in place of the old twin-turbo setup that it came with. Outputs from the engine remain unchanged and still stand at 281bhp and 61.2kgm of torque, while the economy is claimed to have gone up by 8.5 percent. The SDV6 engine on the Sport has been re-calibrated to improve performance – 302bhp of power and 71.3kgm of torque are now available at the top – this is an increase of 14bhp and 10kgm of torque, while economy is also claimed to have increased.
Elsewhere in the range, Land Rover has also introduced the option of a Head-Up Display to the Range Rover line-up. A 1,000 pounds (approx. Rs. 97,000) option, the HUD allows drivers to see information including speed, gear position and navigation data without looking down from the windscreen. Both the HUD and ATPC systems are available to order now.
