Patent renderings of the new Pajero Sport have made their way on to the internet. The production-ready SUV is expected to make its debut sometime later this year. The styling of the new SUV seems to be based on the GR-HEV concept Mitsubishi debuted at the Geneva motor show 2013.

At the front, the sketches bear resemblance to the facelifted Outlander with sleek stretched headlamps, a grille with thick bars of garnish running between the headlamps, a large central air-dam with garnish surround, inset fog-lamps and a scuff plate. On the sides, the SUV appears to have a rising window-line with garnish running its whole length, and a side-board to help ingress and egress. At the back the Pajero Sport gets uniquely styled tail-lamps, a faux scuff plate on the rear bumper and garnish on the tail-gate.

The new Pajero Sport is expected to get a new 2.4-litre MIVEC turbo-diesel engine developing around 178bhp and 43.85kgm of torque. Power is expected to be routed to the wheels through a six-speed manual and automatic gearbox.

The new Pajero Sport is expected to come to India at some point, with Mitsubishi currently offering the Pajero in the market. However we will have wait and see if the new SUV will replace the current Pajero or be positioned above it.
