Ola EV

Ola Electric Mobility recently filed a new 4-wheeler design patent application in India, which may hint at a future launch. While its exact dimensions aren’t known yet, the tall, 4-door Ola EV appears to have a design similar to that of the MG Comet EV, though the latter is a 2-door. Previously, Ola teased an electric sedan concept, patent images of which had also surfaced, showcasing its design. However, the company reportedly put its development on hold to focus on producing mass-market electric scooters.

  1. The concept EV may utilise Ola’s next-gen modular platform
  2. Battery and range details are not clear right now

New Ola EV expected platform

We expect the compact electric vehicle to be based on Ola’s new Gen 4 base. At its 2025 Sankalp event, Ola stated that the modular architecture is also compatible with 2- and 3-wheelers, alongside drones and humanoids, which will provide it economies of scale. The company added that this platform will support vehicles that are lighter and more energy-efficient and also leverage Ola’s indigenously developed and manufactured 4680 cells, which recently got the Automotive Research Association of India’s (ARAI) approval. Its battery size and single-charge range remain under wraps as of now.

Ongoing struggles

Ola has been dealing with a barrage of complaints from customers regarding service issues, poor customer care and misleading advertisements. Earlier reports also pointed to allegations of insider trading and violations related to trade certificates.

In the first six months of 2025, Ola’s sales dropped by nearly half to 1,15,000 units from 2,29,000 units in the last year’s corresponding period, according to Vahan data. Monthly sales have declined from around 38,000 units to just over 19,000 units. The company’s share of the electric two-wheeler market has fallen from approximately 50 percent at its peak to around 20 percent, as it has lost substantial ground to legacy players such as TVS and Bajaj
