Honda Amaze CNG

Honda recently launched the new-gen Amaze, albeit without a factory-fitted CNG kit just like the outgoing model. However, customers will be able to retrofit a CNG kit in their Honda Amaze at the dealership.

  1. CNG conversion available only on the Amaze MT for private buyers
  2. Conversions will be carried out at RTO approved centers
  3. Deliveries likely to start by December end

Honda Amaze CNG conversion process explained

Honda will only offer the Amaze only with a petrol engine from the factory, unlike the new Dzire that comes with a factory-fitted CNG kit. However, Honda has instructed its dealers to facilitate CNG conversions at outlets by partnering with RTO-approved CNG conversion facilities in their vicinity.

Customers looking for a petrol-CNG powertrain for the Amaze will have to opt for a petrol car and then go for the dealer-level conversion. Most Honda dealers have already tied up with an RTO-approved CNG fitment centre as the conversion process was done for the previous-gen Amaze as well.

Although the CNG conversoin is not done at the factory, the vehicle gets all manufacturer warranties. The cost of the conversion is around Rs 1 lakh, but the final amount differs based on state-wise taxations. To avail the factory warranty, buyers will have to sign additional documents at the dealer once the conversion is done. Once all the formalities are completed, the dealer will send the vehicle to the RTO again, and the fuel type will be changed to petrol-CNG.

Honda Amaze CNG powertrain highlights

The Amaze comes with a 90hp 1.2-litre petrol engine from the factory, but expect a slight decrease in power just like any other CNG-powered car. The CNG conversion is available only on the manual-gearbox-equipped version.

Honda Amaze price and delivery details

Prices for the new Amaze start at Rs 8 lakh going up to Rs 10.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India) for the top-spec ZX variant. Test drives for the new Amaze are expected to begin next week, with deliveries likely to commence by end of the month.
