Chevrolet has finally taken the wraps off the long overdue Tavera upgrade. Called the Tavera Neo3, the utility vehicle gets some styling tweaks including reprofiled headlights and a new front bumper design. The front grille is larger too and in keeping with Chevrolet’s global design language. Top-end Tavera variants will now get contrasting paint for the bumpers and side cladding.

The interiors are spruced up too and come with a beige and dark grey colour theme within the cabin. However, the biggest change on the Tavera is the addition of a Sonalika-sourced 2-litre common-rail direct injection diesel engine. This BS 4 compliant engine will sell alongside the older BS 3 2.5-litre direct injection diesel powerplant.

Chevrolet also unveiled the updated Captiva. The SUV now exhibits a bold new look thanks to its larger and more imposing split grille. The front bumper is new too and makes the Captiva look more macho than before. Updates to the interiors however are not so comprehensive. The Captiva gets a few goodies too like cruise control and rain-sensing wipers. Completing the update is the new 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine that comes mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The new Captiva is scheduled to go on sale within the first quarter of 2012.

The vast Chevrolet display also includes the drool-worthy Camaro Convertible and gorgeous Corvette Stingray Concept. Also on display are the interesting Volt electric car, Beat BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) and EN-V urban commuter.

But that’s not all. The manufacturer will also unveil the first products from Chinese partner SAIC’s portfolio on day 2 of the Auto Expo. These cars are the Sail hatchback and an MPV that could be called the Enjoy. Stay tuned.
