The new Toyota Camry has been spotted undergoing testing in Chennai and thanks to our reader Anmol Bajaj, we have these spy pictures. The car will be launched at the Auto Expo in January 2012.

India will receive the ASEAN car so its styling will not be as radical as the US model but it does have more presence than before. There’s also slightly more space inside and the interiors do look richer too.

Toyota has introduced the car with a new 2.5-litre VVT-i petrol motor and we expect this engine to be available in India as well. Power output could see a bump up to 174bhp but that will depend on the engine’s state of tune. A new six-speed automatic is also likely to be offered.

Toyota has no plans to introduce a diesel engine any time soon. Pricing should be competitive as the company is considering local assembly from CKD kits.
