Mercedes G Class Electric

Mercedes-Benz has issued a voluntary recall for the G-Class Electric in India over a possible issue with the wheel bolts. A total of 99 units, manufactured from July 12, 2024, to August 18, 2025, are affected. This is Mercedes' second recall in the country this year, after the February recall for the C63 S AMG and CLE models over a possible ADAS defect.

Mercedes G-Class Electric wheel

"It has been observed that in certain G-Class 580 (electric) [models] manufactured during the aforesaid period, the wheel bolts, unfortunately, might not meet the requirements. In this case, the wheel bolts and, later, the wheel connection, might loosen over the vehicle's lifetime while driving, impairing driving stability. [This] may potentially increase the possibility of a crash," stated the SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers) website, where the recall was announced.

Solution for affected vehicles

As is usually the case with such recalls, Mercedes-Benz dealerships are expected to contact owners whose vehicles are affected and do the needful. In the meantime, owners can also contact an official Mercedes dealership for more information.

What do you think about the push for ethanol blends even higher than E20 petrol?

Good move; it cuts dependence on crude oil imports
I support it as it’s a greener solution than pure petrol
I’ll accept it only if it’s cheaper than E20 petrol
I am concerned about damage to my vehicle
Not good; fuel efficiency will drop even further
