Mercedes-Benz has announced that it will be launching the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé in India at Auto Expo 2020. The coupé is set to arrive in its range-topping GT 63 S guise and will also be on display at the brand’s stall at the Auto Expo.

Built on the same platform as the E-class and CLS, the AMG GT 4-Door was revealed globally back in 2018. It was the fifth dedicated model from the AMG brand, following the SLS coupé and roadster, and the two-door GT coupé and roadster. In its 63 S guise, power comes from 639hp, 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 petrol that sends power to all four wheels via Mercedes’ 4Matic all-wheel-drive system. The engine is paired with a 9-speed automatic gearbox.

On the styling front, the GT 4-Door borrows design elements from the two-door AMG GT, particularly up front and round the back, with the profile reminiscent of a fastback with a long bonnet and coupé-like roofline. Inside, the cabin is typical new-gen Mercedes, with twin displays for infotainment and instrumentation, and a central tunnel running the length of the cabin making it a four seater.

Aside from the launch of the GT 63 S 4-Door Coupé, Mercedes is also set to showcase the A-class sedan – as reported by us previously – at the Expo, with the model set to launch in India later in the year. The sedan is set to be showcased in its AMG A35 spec at the Expo.

Also present will be the recently revealed all-new Mercedes GLA and the all-electric Mercedes EQC. Mercedes showcased the latter recently at an event announcing the launch of the EQ brand in India, with a launch for the all-electric SUV confirmed for April this year. The EQC will be showcased at the Expo in its Edition 1886 spec, which features unique trim finishes and more kit as compared to the standard SUV.

Other cars at the German carmaker’s stall will include the soon-to-launch Mercedes GLE, the GLC facelift, the E-class and its range of Maybach sedans. Also present will be an all-electric air mobility concept, the Volocopter.
