The Jaguar XE has been spied on Indian roads prior to its official launch at the 2016 Auto Expo.
When launched, the XE will take on the Audi A4, BMW 3-series and Mercedes-Benz C-class which currently dominate the class, but a competitive price starting at around Rs 38 lakh is expected since the XE will be built at Jaguar Land Rover’s facility in Pune.
An all-aluminium chassis is at the core of the new XE sedan, a first for the segment, and the car will be powered by the 161bhp 2.0-litre diesel powerplant from JLR’s latest Ingenium engine family. The option of a 2.0-litre petrol engine will also be offered. Jaguar India dealers have started accepting bookings at an amount of Rs 1 lakh. Deliveries are expected to be carried out by February 20, 2016.
Along with the XE sedan launch, the carmaker will also showcase the second-generation XF sedan and the all-new F-Pace crossover.
