Isuzu MU-X gets five-year comprehensive warranty

In a bid to make the Isuzu MU-X more appealing, the Japanese brand is offering a five-year comprehensive warranty with the SUV. Dubbed, 5ecure, it offers customers a five-year periodic maintenance plan in addition to the extended warranty. The Isuzu 5ecure plan will be available to new customers who have purchased the car after January 1, 2018 free-of-cost, while older MU-X owners can avail this offer for an additional price till June 30, 2018.

Isuzu MU-X customers will be offered a five-year/1,50,000km comprehensive warranty, as opposed to the standard three-year/100,000km one. In addition, periodic maintenance – which includes costs such as spare parts (such as air filter, oil filter, etc.), lubricants and labour – is also free. The 5ecure plan will bring down ownership costs of the Isuzu MU-X significantly. However, replacement of parts and components damaged due to wear and tear or accidental damages aren’t covered under the 5ecure plan.

The Isuzu MU-X SUV was launched in India last year, with prices starting at Rs 24.73 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai). The SUV is available in two variants – 4x2 and 4x4. The flagship Isuzu SUV is powered by a 3.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine generating 177hp at 3,600rpm and 380Nm of torque between 1,800-2,800rpm. The engine is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. The 4x4 model also features a shift-on-the-fly operation for the four-wheel-drive system, which gives the option to select two-high, four-high and four-low ranges. The MU-X also comes with uphill and downhill drive control and claimed mileage for the 4x2 is 13.8kpl. You can read more about the Isuzu MU-X in our review report. The MU-X competes against established rivals such as the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour. Toyota offers a three-year/1,00,000km warranty on the Fortuner, while Ford’s Endeavour comes with a two-year/1,00,000km warranty.
