Indian Oil introduces cleaner, more efficient diesel

Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has rolled out XtraGreen which it calls a cleaner and greener form of diesel, at 126 of its fuel stations across 63 cities in the country.

    • Launched at 126 fuel pumps across 63 cities
    • XtraGreen improves lubricity and reduces engine noise
    • IOCL also launched 'One4U' fuel gift card

Indian Oil says that its new XtraGreen diesel uses a modified DMFA (Diesel Multi-Functional Additive) which offers several benefits over regular diesel. XtraGreen is said to improve fuel economy by 5 to 6 percent, reduce CO2 emissions (130 grams of CO2 for every litre of diesel), reduced carbon monoxide emissions by 5.29 percent and NOx emissions by 4.99 percent.

Additionally, XtraGreen also has an increased cetane number (indicator of the combustion speed of diesel) by 5 points, improved lubricity, reduced engine noise and offers good corrosion protection (NACE rating A).

Speaking about the introduction of XtraGreen, Shrikant Madhav Vaidya, chairman, IndianOil said, "XtraGreen is in sync with the prime minister's commitment to steer India towards a greener tomorrow, constant reduction of carbon emission and gradual achievement of the net-zero goal by 2070. This also underlines Indian Oil's unwavering commitment to provide niche and specialised solutions to environmentally sensitive market segments, while continuously enhancing the user experience".

Along with XtraGreen diesel, IOCL also introduced the 'One4U' fuel gift card, which is a retail fuel digital gifting solution. Elaborating on the benefits of the One4U fuel gift card, Vaidya said, "Through a user-friendly and on-the-go digital page, an individual can select various gifting denominations, enter the recipient's details, and pay for the voucher by choosing from an array of payment options. I am confident this digital gifting solution will garner much traction amongst millennials."
