India-spec Tata Altroz to be unveiled next month

Tata Motors is gearing up for its next launch in our market, the Altroz which is slated to see an official reveal next month. The company had showcased the Altroz in close-to-production form a few months ago at the Geneva motor show.

For those who don’t know, the Altroz is the market name for the production- spec hatchback based on the 45X Concept that was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo in New Delhi.

The Altroz sports Tata’s Impact Design 2.0 styling and is underpinned by the company's new ALFA modular platform that will spawn more models in future.

Under the hood, the Altroz hatchback will come with a 1.2-litre, 85hp petrol, a 1.2-litre, 102hp turbo-petrol from the Nexon compact SUV and also a 1.5-litre turbo- diesel with 90hp on tap. Initially, the Altroz will get the option of a 5-speed and 6-speed manual gearbox but the company will introduce automatic variants a little later.

The Tata Altroz was recently spied undisguised during a promotional shoot in Mumbai. The model will be a direct rival to other premium hatchbacks in India like the Hyundai i20, the Honda Jazz, Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the recently launched Toyota Glanza.
