Hyundai Motor India has made some major changes in its senior leadership team. Rakesh Srivastava, senior vice president–sales & marketing, has been elevated to director–sales & marketing, while Ganesh Mani S., vice president-production has been made senior vice president. Vikas Jain, senior general manager–sales, is now assistant vice president–sales. The promotions are effective April 1, 2017.
Y.K. Koo, CEO & managing director, Hyundai Motor India, announcing the changes asked the team to intensify its excellent work by providing leadership towards Hyundai India's "long-term vision of achieving market leadership, being the most beloved and trusted brand, providing a modern premium brand and in due process evolving as a great place to work".
In terms of India sales, the Korean carmaker crossed half a million units for the first time in a fiscal. For 2016-17 (April-March), it sold 5,09,707 vehicles, recording a growth of 5.2 percent year on year (2015-16: 4,84,324). In March 2017, Hyundai India sold 44,757 units, up 8.6 percent on-year (March 2016: 41,201), thanks to the continuing upbeat response for the Grand i10 as well as the Elite i20.
The carmaker recently introduced a mildly updated i20 too, with additional paint schemes and revised equipment levels.
