Fiat has announced a revision in prices for all its models in India, effective September 15, 2017. Its newest model, the Jeep Compass sees a price increase between Rs 21,000 and Rs 72,000 depending on the variant. The carmaker's completely built-up models, the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee, also get costlier with prices rising by Rs 2.75 lakh to Rs 6.4 lakh.
The Jeep Compass was launched at Rs 14.95 lakh, an aggressive pricing that enabled it to get over 10,000 bookings between June 19 and September 1, 2017. This hike will definitely affect buyer interest, especially for the top-spec diesel models.
The price hike isn't limited to Jeep, and has been extended to other Fiat models including the Linea, Punto and the hatchback’s various offshoots which are now costlier by Rs 9,000 to Rs 14,000.
The move comes on the back of the GST council’s upward revision of the cess on mid-size, large cars and SUVs. Like FCA, Honda and Toyota have also announced revised pricing for their models.
