    GM readies itself for Auto Expo '10

    The Auto Expo 2010 is just a couple of weeks’ away and GM India will be putting it's best foot forward with their concepts and production models from their global as well as domestic portfolio.

    The much awaited Hybrid Volt will walk the red carpet for Chevy at the expo. The battery powered electric Volt uses a 1-litre petrol engine
    alongwith battery powered E-Flex system. The battery system can be charged within six hours and can cover around 60km on single electric charge alone.

    Trying to steal the show will be the will be the sports car, Camaro that could come with a fire breather 6.2litre V8 with a max power of 420bhp. Next up will be the car that is GM’s global effort and it represents the company's racing history. The 2.0-litre petrol WTCC Cruze, which premiered at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, will continue Chevrolet’s presence in the WTCC.

    Riding on the success of the Captiva, Chevrolet will bring the Captiva Extreme to the Expo in January next year. It will come with an automatic gearbox, new fog lamps, chrome inserts on the mirrors and roof bars. The Captiva Extreme will feature the stunning 2.0-litre 148bhp diesel motor that is doing duty on the current car.

    GM India has taken a firm step towards going green and at the auto expo 2010 the company will put on display the Spark Electric, the first product of a recently signed JV between REVA and GM India. A CNG variant of the Aveo will also find its way at GM’s green stall.

    In addition to the above, GM India's latest entry to the Indian market Chevrolet Beat and existing models like the Cruze, Captiva, Tavera, Optra, Aveo U-VA and the Spark will also be on display.
