Ford will be showcasing an important new car at the Detroit motor show. According to a leaked image on Autospies, the manufacturer's official show stand will have a model called the Phoenix on display. This mystery model will be flanked by the legendary Ford GT and also the original Ford GT40, which could be an indication that Phoenix is what the supercar successor to the Ford GT will be called. Ford had already confirmed that it will be showcasing a GT successor at the Detroit motor show.

The new model will likely be produced under the firm's new Ford Performance banner, which will produce 12 new sporty models between now and 2020. Cars produced under the Ford Performance banner will be sold in international markets, and are being created by a US-based team that has personnel from Ford’s motorsport, road car and performance parts divisions.

Along with this GT-replacement, Ford will also have on display a high-performance F-150 Raptor pick-up truck and another car – one that is expected to be an even more hardcore version of the Shelby Mustang GT350.
