Audi India is gearing up to expand its line-up with the launch of the new A5 in two body styles - the Cabriolet and Sportback on October 5, 2017.

The models set to make their way to our market are the A5 Sportback, A5 Cabriolet and S5 Sportback. Interestingly, India will get the Cabriolet version for the first time.

The A5 Sportback and the A5 Cabriolet are powered by a 1968cc diesel capable of putting out 190hp at 3,800-4,200rpm, with a torque rating of 400Nm at 1,750-3,000rpm. Both the sedans are equipped with a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox. However, power is sent to the front wheels in the A5 Sportback, while the Cabriolet comes with Audi's quattro all-wheel-drive layout. Audi claims the Sportback can sprint to 100kph from standstill in 7.9sec, while the Cabriolet can achieve the same in a similar time of 7.8sec.

Powering the S5 Sportback is a 3.0-litre, turbocharged petrol V6 making 354hp at 5,400-6,400rpm and 500Nm at 1,370-4,500rpm. Transmission duties are undertaken by an eight-speed tiptronic gearbox and power is sent to all four wheels. All three models come equipped with an engine start-stop system.

In terms of pricing, the S5 and Cabriolet likely to go on sale for around Rs 65 lakh, while the A5 diesel will be priced at around Rs 55-57 lakh.

By giving customers two body styles of the A5 to choose from, the German car maker aims to appeal to a wider set of buyers and expand its presence in the segment. The launch of these cars is part of the car maker’s plan to launch 10 models in 2017.
