Citroen launches Basalt X Comfort Edition at Rs 8.75 lakh

As part of its 108-year celebration, Citroen India has launched the Basalt X Comfort Edition from an ex-showroom price starting at Rs 8.75 lakh. This is a Rs 20,000 premium over the base 'You' variant, which is priced at Rs 8.55 lakh. For the Citroen coupe-SUV, the brand says it brings a range of "premium interior enhancements, convenience features and curated personalisation options". The Basalt is the second Citroen model to get the 'Comfort Edition' treatment, as it was first introduced with the Aircross.

Wireless phone charger among features offered with Comfort Edition.

The Comfort Edition introduces a new 'Comfort AXS' pack, which introduces new features to base 'You' and mid-level 'Plus' trims of the Basalt. Depending on the variant, the Comfort Edition brings features like a JBL sound system, reverse parking camera, dual dashcam with predictive safety alerts, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, and a wireless phone charger. Additionally, variants with the Comfort AXS Pack get 'Metropolitan Beige' leatherette seats as standard fitment.

The Comfort AXS Pack essentially makes features more accessible on the lower trims. For instance, the 10.25-inch infotainment screen is available from the mid-spec ‘Plus’ trim onwards, while the wireless charger is only available on the top ‘Max’ trim. Features like the dual dash cam, reverse parking camera and wireless charger can also be had as individual accessories, but the Comfort AXS pack bundles them together and makes it more accessible on the lower trims.

Citroen Basalt engine and gearbox options

The base 'You' trim of the Basalt is powered solely by an 82hp, 115Nm, 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that's mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The mid-level 'Plus' trim adds a more powerful 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that churns out 110hp and 190Nm of torque. The engine can be mated with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. With the latter, the engine's torque is bumped up to 205Nm.   

The Basalt takes on rivals in the mid-size SUV space like the Tata Curvv, Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Tata Sierra, Renault Duster, Nissan Tekton, Honda Elevate, Kia Seltos, Maruti Victoris and Grand Vitara.
