Great Wall Motors has worked on making its first outing in India an impactful one with a barrage of models on display at Auto Expo 2020, and one of the many SUVs on display is the Haval F7. While the H2, H6 and H9 have been around for a while, the F7 is a more recent addition to the Haval line-up.

The Haval F7 is designed to be a rival to the Hyundai Tucson facelift (which has also been introduced at Auto Expo 2020), but in terms of size, the F7 is notably longer and taller, and also has a longer wheelbase. Despite its ample length, the F7 is a strict five-seater, and as a result, has a pretty large boot. Ground clearance for the F7 is rated at 190mm.

Certain to attract attention on the inside is a 9-inch screen for the infotainment system that is angled towards the driver and also features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Another highlight inside the spacious F7 is a panoramic sunroof. Safety features on the Haval F7 include front, side and curtain airbags, ESP, rollover mitigation and forward collision alert system.

Abroad, there are two engine options for the Haval F7 – a 1.5-litre T-GDI turbo-petrol (150hp and 280Nm), and a 2.0-litre T-GDI (190hp, 340Nm) as well. Both engines are mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, and along with the front-wheel-drive model, there’s also an all-wheel-drive model available internationally.

What’s also interesting is that the Haval F7 is the basis for the Haval F7X SUV-coupe, which has also been showcased at Auto Expo 2020.

While Great Wall Motor hasn't mentioned any models in particular, the company has confirmed it will launch the Haval brand in India in 2021. The brand has also announced its takeover of General Motors' plant in Talegaon for its India operations.

What do you think of the Haval F7? Let us know in the comments.
