Audi is set to make quite a showing at the upcoming Auto China 2024, which will be held in Beijing from April 24 to May 4, 2024. While the models showcased will be specific to the Chinese market, the German brand’s showcase will provide an indication of its future EV plans for China and other international markets. At least three models have been confirmed by Audi: the Q6L e-tron, the Q5 e-tron RS edition, and the SQ6.

    1. Long-wheelbase Audi Q6 e-tron, SQ6 based on PPE platform
    2. Q5 e-tron RS is a sporty version of the China-only Q5 e-tron

The arrival of the Q6L e-tron in China will also mark the introduction of Audi’s all-electric PPE (Premium Platform Electric) architecture to the country. Unlike most markets around the world, China is the only country where the Q6 gets a long-wheelbase version. There are no other details on how the Q6L will be different from the standard Q6 on sale abroad, but the 100kWh battery that has a WLTP range of 625km, which powers 387hp electric motors are likely to be unchanged.

Audi's SQ6 e-tron will make its China debut.

Audi is also bringing another PPE platform-based model to Auto China 2024 in the form of the sporty SQ6 e-tron. Available in select global markets, the go-faster version of the Q6 gets more powerful motors – putting out 490hp – and up to 580km of WLTP range from the same 100kWh battery pack, which has a net capacity of 94.9kWh. Naturally, it gets a number of sportier design bits, and S badges, denoting its quicker nature.

In standard form, this China-only model was the first three-row e-tron SUV, and was based on VW’s MEB platform. One should also note that the Q5 e-tron is not mechanically related to the Q5 (on sale in India) as the petrol-engined Q5 is underpinned by the the VW Group’s MLB platform. In China, the Q5 e-tron comes in two variants – Q5 40 e-tron and Q5 50 e-tron Quattro, which get a single 204hp motor and a 305hp dual-motor setup, respectively. Both are powered by an 83.4kWh battery pack. Understandably, the Q5 e-tron RS is likely to get an even more powerful motor, though the battery pack may remain the same.

More details on Audi’s stand at the 2024 Beijing motor show will be revealed soon, so stay tuned.
