Audi has announced its line-up of cars for the Auto Expo 2014 and the big news is that it will have the A3 sedan on display. The Audi A3 will join Audi’s range of sedans later this year and will slot in below the A4. It may look like an A4, but measuring 4456mm in length; the Audi A3 sedan is not a very large car and is comparable in size to a Toyota Corolla. Correspondingly, the A3 sedan feels a full size down on the A4 in terms of roominess, although an equally high quality cabin is a given. The Audi A3 sedan for India is likely to be available with the option of a 1.8-litre turbo petrol and a 2.0-litre diesel engine. Audi’s S-tronic dual-clutch transmission will be standard. The A3 sedan is an important car for Audi in India as it seeks to extend its lead in the luxury car segment.
Audi’s display at the Auto Expo will also include the recently-launched RS7 sedan. It’s got a 4.0-litre TFSI twin-turbo V8 engine good for 553bhp and can be yours for Rs 1.29 crore (ex-showroom, Mumbai). Performance-driven showgoers will also get to see the R8 V10 plus Spyder in the flesh and Audi’s Le Mans conquering R18 e-tron Quattro will be there as well.
The Audi Q5 SUV will also be displayed in its hot SQ5 TDI avatar. The ‘S’ in the name implies a lot of sportiness on the Q5 thanks to this version’s 313bhp, 3.0-litre twin-turbo diesel motor. It’ll do 0-100kph in a blistering 5.1 seconds! Special editions of the Q3 and Q7 SUVs will be other attractions at the Audi stand.
