Audi has become the first automaker in the country to officially launch a model – the updated A6 – through a video on popular instant messaging app, WhatsApp. Officially dubbed the Audi A6 Matrix, the sedan is priced at Rs 49.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and is available only in one fully loaded variant.
The most notable change to the facelifted A6 is the inclusion of Matrix LED headlamps. The Matrix LED headlamps use a front-facing camera to identify approaching vehicles and dynamically switching off individual LEDs to prevent dazzling the opposing driver while maintaining optimum road illumination. The grille now is more prominent while the front bumper has also been restyled. On the flanks, the car gets restyled side skirts while at the back, it gets revised tail-lamps and a tweaked rear bumper. The car also gets the addition of dynamic turn indicators that sweep in the direction of the turn.
Inside, the A6 Matrix gets an updated infotainment system with voice activation, handwriting recognition and remote control for the rear seat passengers. There's also a four-zone climate control, a 14-speaker 600W Bose Surround Sound System and now, the front passenger seat can be moved forward by the rear passenger with the push of a button. The A6 facelift also gets eight airbags with two dedicated units for rear passengers, a first in the segment. The facelift also gets four colour options for the leather upholstery.
The Audi A6 facelift draws power from a more powerful 187.74bhp, 2.0-litre TDI diesel motor compared to the older car's 174bhp 2.0-litre diesel unit, mated to a seven-speed automatic gearbox with steering mounted paddle shifters. Audi no longer offers the option of a petrol motor or a six-cylinder powerplant. The A6 facelift also gets Audi Drive Select with four modes along with adaptive air suspension that, as per manufacturer's claims, adjusts to the varying road conditions.
The Audi A6 facelift rivals the likes of the BMW 5-series, Mercedes-Benz E-class and Jaguar XF.
