Ariel, the British performance-vehicle manufacturer, has unveiled its latest model, the Nomad. The brand describes the Nomad as “Atom's mucky brother”. The Nomad is the off-road sibling to the Atom.

The Nomad has a front-wheel-drive set-up and gets knobby tyres to handle off-roading. It also comes with a reinforced chassis, long-travel suspension and a rollover protection mechanism. It has pretty much the same mechanical set-up as the Atom, and retains its strengths of a compact structure and high power-to-weight ratio.

It is likely to be powered by a Honda-sourced 2.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, which is capable of delivering around 200bhp. It will be mated to a six-speed manual gearbox also from Honda. The Ariel Nomad weighs in at around 700kg, and also gets a mechanical limited slip differential.

SsangYong Tivoli revealed

The compact SUV will be officially unveiled in January 2015; will go on sale in India by 2015-end.
