Tata has quietly added a new XZ+(S) trim level to the Nexon’s line-up. Prices for the new variant start at Rs 10.10 lakh for the petrol-manual and Rs 11.60 lakh for the diesel-manual model. The automatics (XZA+(S)) are priced from Rs 10.70 lakh and Rs 12.20 lakh, respectively.

The pricing makes the new XZ+ (S) about Rs 60,000 costlier than the XZ+ trim level but about Rs 30,000 more affordable than the fully-loaded XZ(O) trim.

The S gets some notable additional features over the XZ+, with one the most notable ones being the addition an electric sunroof, which was previously exclusive to the XZ(O) trim. Other equipment from the XZ(O) trim also make their way into the new variant, including the leather wrapped gear-knob and steering, tyre pressure monitor, auto headlamps and wipers, cruise control and an Xpress cool function for the climate control system. The company’s connected-car technology, though, remains exclusive to the fully-loaded XZ(O) trims.

Engine options on offer include a pair of BS6-compliant 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines, each paired with a 6-speed manual or AMT gearbox option.

The addition of a sunroof to a lower variant could give the Nexon an extra push in the market, particularly considering the popularity of the feature amongst Indian buyers. The Nexon facelift goes up against the popular Hyundai Venue, the recently-launched Maruti Vitara Brezza facelift, Ford EcoSport and the Mahindra XUV300.
