2018 Lexus LS 500h launched at Rs 1.77 crore

Luxury car brand Lexus, which has been aggressively launching models in India since entering the market in March 2017, today expanded its range with the introduction of the flagship sedan, the LS 500h.

This is the fifth-generation of the luxury sedan and Lexus have priced it at Rs 1.77 crore (ex-showroom, India) positioning it in Mercedes-Maybach S 500 territory. It's available in three variants: Luxury (Rs 1.77 crore), Ultra Luxury (Rs 1.82 crore) and Distinct (Rs 1.93 crore). The LS 500h is a stylish sedan features the signature, oversized Lexus spindle grille, sharp character lines, LED headlamps and 20-inch alloy wheels that lend the car a distinct premium look.

The sedan measures 5,235mm in length, 1,900mm in width and gets a wheelbase of 3,125mm. It comes with air suspension and will be available in hybrid form, powered by a V6 petrol-hybrid unit.

The Lexus LS 500h uses a 3.5-litre petrol engine assisted by two electric motors (which draws power from a 310.8kV lithium-ion battery) delivering a combined output of 354hp. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission (four gear ratios). The sprint to 100kph can be done in 5.4 seconds. Lexus claims the LS 500h will do 15.38 kilometres to a litre.

In India, the sedan will be available with air suspension, 28-way adjustable front seats, heated seats with massage function, 12.3-inch wide infotainment screen with navigation. A 2,400-watt, 23-speaker Mark Levinson surround system is standard equipment.

The rear seat passengers can recline the backrest by up to 48 degrees and there’s also an option of an extended footrest. Active noise suspension package is offered as standard.

Deliveries of the LS 500h are scheduled to commence in April.
