Tata is set to launch a new top variant of its popular Tiago hatchback. Christened the XZ+, the new variant is equipped with more kit than the previous top-spec XZ variant.
On the outside, the Tiago XZ+ gets new blacked-out projector headlamps and larger 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, which have been borrowed from the Tigor. There’s also electrically folding ORVMs, body side moulding and chrome garnish on the rear tailgate. Tata has also added two new colour schemes –Canyon Orange and Ocean Blue – along with the option of having a dual-tone roof.
Inside, the Tiago XZ+ comes equipped with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and voice commands. It also gets automatic climate control for the AC, as seen in the Tigor compact sedan.
Mechanically, the Tiago will remain unchanged. There’s an 85hp, 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 70hp, 1.05-litre diesel motor on offer. Both engines are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, with a 5-speed AMT available on the petrol variants. Tata is yet to confirm whether the XZ+ will come equipped with the AMT gearbox.
Expected pricing for the Tiago XZ+ is Rs 5.7 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), and it will compete against the recently-launched Hyundai Santro and Datsun Go facelift. The introduction of the XZ+ variant has led to the Tiago’s variants being rejigged. The older top-spec XZ variant now gets lesser kit thanks to the introduction of the XZ+ variant.
