Tata Motors has begun readying its outlets for the launch of its first electric SUV, the Nexon EV, which is slated to take place in the coming months. The company will unveil the Nexon EV in India on December 17, 2019 in Mumbai.
While quite a few details about the upcoming Nexon EV are in the public domain, we can now confirm that Tata Motors will initially start selling the Nexon only in a few cities when the e-SUV goes on sale. Sources tell us that the company has handpicked cities like Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, New Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai.
Dealerships in these cities are expected to have trained their staff and have had charging infrastructure installed and ready for the first phase of the launch. Tata Motors will gradually increase its sales and service footprint into more cities across India. The company is also expected provide a charger with each Nexon sold, which can be installed at the buyer’s home or office.
The Nexon EV, as reported by us earlier, will be based on the Nexon facelift and will feature sheet metal changes up front, along with a new front- and rear-bumper design, a slimmer grille and new headlight units. The Nexon EV will go on sale between January and March 2020 and will feature the brand's Ziptron EV technology.
