Skoda recalls Kodiaq over compromised side airbag protection

Skoda India has issued a recall for its flagship offering, the Kodiaq, over the risk of failure of the front side airbag protection. A total of 221 units of the Kodiaq manufactured between March 10 and December 8, 2025, are affected by this recall.

According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers website, the edge of the front seats’ inner frame may compromise the protection offered from the side airbag upon activation. Skoda says this could result in an increased risk of injury to passengers in the event of an accident.

What is Skoda doing to rectify this issue?

Skoda India is expected to reach out to owners of the affected cars. Customers will be directed to visit authorised service centres, where the concerned part will be either fixed or replaced free of cost. In the meantime, owners can also check if their car is affected by entering its Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on Skoda’s recall campaign site or contact an official Skoda after-sales service centre for more information.

The Kodiaq is a premium SUV in Skoda’s portfolio, priced from Rs 39.99 to Rs 43.95 lakh (ex-showroom). It is available in three trims, namely Lounge, Sportline, and Selection L&K, with Lounge being a 5-seater and the other two trims offering 7 seats. The SUV is powered by a 204hp, 320Nm, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine mated to a 7-speed DCT gearbox. All-wheel drive is standard on the Sportline and Selection L&K trims.
