Next-gen Hyundai i20 interior teaser details

The twin digital screens seen in the teaser resemble those offered in the Hyundai Venue, and each could measure 12.3 inches. The current i20, for reference, offers either a 10.25-inch or an 8-inch touchscreen, depending on the variant. On the 10.25-inch unit, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are made wireless via an adapter, but Hyundai may eliminate the need for the same with the new infotainment system, enhancing convenience.

As for the driver’s display, even the tachometer graphics are similar to those in the compact SUV. A new steering wheel with ‘H’ in Morse code, a 360-degree camera and new upholstery colours are expected.

Next-gen Hyundai i20 exterior changes

In addition to the new connected headlights and tail-lights, an earlier teaser showed a new front grille that was disconnected from the headlights, similar to that of the Verna. The placement of the Hyundai logo, finished in brushed aluminium, continues to be above the grille.

While a proper look at the side profile is pending at the time of writing, the tail-lights have a new C-shaped LED signature, and a black trim beneath the rear windscreen was also spotted. The next-generation model is expected to be larger than the current i20, and as we reported earlier, will be based on the Hyundai Bayon’s platform.

Next-gen Hyundai i20 powertrains

The upcoming i20 may continue to offer 84hp 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 120hp 1.0-litre direct injection turbo-petrol engine options. As we exclusively reported, the company is developing a new 1.2-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol engine, expected to deliver higher peak power and torque than the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol. It remains to be seen if Hyundai offers the new turbo-petrol engine with the new i20.
