The Mahindra Marazzo , along with being upgraded for BS6 emissions norms, has also undergone a variant revision, with the carmaker having streamlined the line-up to just three trims. As we’ve previously reported, the BS6 Marazzo can now be had in M2, M4+ and M6+ trim with each offered in seven (middle row captain seats) or eight-seat (middle-row bench) cabin configurations. The latter two trims are new to the line-up while the previously available M4, M6 and fully loaded M8 trims have been discontinued.

What equipment is now no longer available the Mahindra Marazzo?

With the previously available fully-loaded M8 trim no longer available, there are some features that have also been deleted. Equipment no longer available includes leatherette upholstery, a cooled glovebox, power folding wing mirrors and cruise control. However, one must also keep in mind that the M6+ undercuts the price of the old BS4 M8 trim by a little over Rs 1 lakh. The BS4 M8 variant was priced at Rs 14.68 lakh (ex-showroom) for the 7-seater and Rs 14.77 lakh for the 8-seater.

What’s under the hood?

Mechanically little has changed with the MPV save for the upgrade to meet the more stringent emission norms. The 123hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine continues to be the sole engine on offer and is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. An AMT gearbox option and a petrol engine option are in the works.

What are its rivals?

The Marazzo goes up against the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga (Rs 7.59 – 10.13 lakh)* and its more premium derivative, the XL6 (Rs 9.85 – 11.51 lakh)*. However, unlike the Marazzo, both Maruti models are petrol only and significantly undercut the Mahindra MPV in terms of price. At its current pricing, the Marazzo sits in a gap between the two Marutis and the larger Toyota Innova Crysta (Rs 15.66 – 23.63 lakh)*
