Hero MotoCorp Destini 125 Expert Review

The Destini 125 has a simple family scooter design, although the H-shaped tail-lamp and stacked indicators give it a more unusual look. Feature-wise, it covers the basics with navigation, auto-cancelling indicators, a boot light and a USB charger. However, fit and finish still need improvement. The switchgear and USB port cover feel plasticky, the fuel filler area is awkward to use, and the 19-litre underseat storage is among the smallest in the segment.

Comfort is one of the Destini 125's biggest strengths. The well-padded seat, spacious riding position and plush suspension work together to make it one of the most comfortable scooters in its class. The 12-inch wheels also help it feel planted at higher speeds.

The Destini's engine feels punchy and can cruise comfortably at around 70kph. Fuel efficiency is another strong point, in our test, it returned 58kpl. However, the system takes a couple of seconds to restart the engine which may feel slow in city traffic. The engine also has a mild buzz through the handlebar and floorboard.

The Destini 125 is built with comfort in mind, and its suspension deals with bad roads very well. It remains sure-footed at higher speeds and feels predictable to ride. The brakes offer adequate stopping power, although they require a firm pull and lack feel at the lever.

The Destini 125 comes with smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, a side-stand engine cut-off, auto-cancelling indicators and a USB charger. However, it misses out on a brake lock clasp, which is an important feature on a family scooter.

The Destini 125 gets the basics right with its excellent comfort and impressive fuel efficiency. However, fit and finish, engine refinement and a few missing practical features stop it from matching the best scooters in the segment.
