Ather Energy’s first EL platform-based electric scooter has been spotted testing, indicating that the brand is progressing towards a potential launch during the festive season this year. While the test mule is heavily camouflaged, its overall silhouette and a few visible design elements suggest that the production version will remain largely faithful to the EL01 concept showcased at Community Day 2025.

Ather EL 01 scooter: All we know so far
The EL 01 concept is one of three scooters based on the EL platform that the company showcased last year
From what can be seen in the spy shots, the upcoming scooter retains the family-oriented design language previewed by the EL01 concept. Key visible elements include a handlebar-mounted headlight and a wide LED DRL on the front apron. The overall design also aligns closely with the design patent filed by Ather last year, which depicted a near-identical scooter with the addition of mirrors.
At Community Day 2025, Ather stated that the EL platform has been developed using over 26 lakh kilometres of field data and is designed to be modular enough to underpin scooters across different sizes and use cases. While exact specifications haven’t been revealed, the EL01 concept featured a 14-inch front and 12-inch rear alloy wheel setup. The platform is also expected to support battery capacities ranging from 2kWh to 5kWh, enabling multiple variants with differing performance and range characteristics.

The EL01 concept also featured a large 7-inch TFT display, and given Ather’s strong focus on technology, the production model is likely to retain this along with a comprehensive electronics suite. However, since there are no clear images from the rider’s perspective, the final instrument setup on the test mule remains unconfirmed.
The EL01 concept was one of three scooters showcased on the platform and is expected to be the first to make it to production, likely around the festive season this year. It’s also worth noting that ‘EL 01’ is likely a development codename, and the final production model could carry a different name.
