TVS Apache sales cross 4 lakh mark in FY2025

The TVS Apache range has sold over 4 lakh units in the first 11 months of FY2025, surpassing this milestone for the second time since FY2019. The robust sales in the current fiscal year also mean that the Apache series is the bestselling TVS motorcycle and the leader in the 150-200cc segment, with a commanding 40 percent share.

  1. TVS Apache series emerges as the bestselling 2W in its segment
  2. Apache series has sold over 4 lakh units in FY2025
  3. Apache range holds a 40 percent share of its segment

TVS Motor Co. is having a strong FY2025, with its cumulative 11-month two-wheeler wholesale sales – comprising scooters, motorcycles, and mopeds – reaching 3.22 million units, up 11 percent YoY (April 2023-February 2024). While TVS scooter sales are up 24 percent YoY, accounting for a 51 percent share, motorcycle sales are down 2 percent YoY, with a 34 percent share. The humble TVS moped continues to see demand, with sales up 6 percent YoY, contributing to a 14.48 percent share of overall two-wheeler sales.

TVS Apache’s current market share and previous figures

TVS’ motorcycle segment market performance would have witnessed a higher rate of sales decline than 2 percent in the April 2024-February 2025 period if not for the TVS Apache series’ robust market performance in the 150-200cc segment.

With this, the TVS Apache brand has surpassed the 4 lakh sales mark in this segment for the second time in its 20-year history. It missed the mark in FY2018 (3,99,035 units) by just 965 units.

Sales were impacted in subsequent fiscals, mainly because of the dampened demand due to the Covid-19 pandemic. With March 2025 wholesales yet to be counted, expect TVS to clock a total of around 4.40 lakh-4.45 lakh Apaches in FY2025, albeit this figure will still be short of the record FY2019 total.

Nevertheless, the TVS Apache remains the company’s bestselling motorcycle in FY2025. In the first 11 months of this fiscal, with over 4 lakh units sold (up 17 percent), it holds a 36 percent share of TVS’ total motorcycle sales, surpassing the TVS Raider. In FY2024, the Raider was TVS’ bestselling motorcycle, with over 4.7 lakh units sold, compared to the Apache’s 3.7 lakh units.

With over 4 lakh units sold, the TVS Apache range holds a commanding 40 percent share of this segment’s total sales, followed by India Yamaha Motor. The next four OEMs – Bajaj Auto, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, Hero MotoCorp, and Suzuki Motorcycle India – have all seen their sales decline YoY, as the SIAM-sourced data depicts.

Are 150-200cc motorcycle buyers migrating?

The 150-200cc premium commuter segment, the third largest in the overall motorcycle market, faces pressure from both the 125-150cc category and the segments above it. The 125-150cc bikes have experienced a notable 40 percent growth, suggesting a shift towards more fuel-efficient options as buyers opt for affordability over performance.

However, the Union Budget’s promise of increased disposable income could shift this trend. Meanwhile, the 200-250cc (up 16 percent) and 250-350cc (up 4 percent) segments have gained traction. This is probably down to buyers moving from the 150-200cc segment toward more premium, feature-rich options.
