The Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus is the latest limited-edition offering from the iconic two-wheeler brand. Pricing for the motorcycle was announced in May and it went on sale online on July 10. However, such was the demand for the model that the website crashed and Royal Enfield had no option but to postpone the sale. It announced on its social media account that the Pegasus Classic 500 will go on sale on July 25 at 4pm. The motorcycle has been inspired from the Royal Enfield WD/RE 125 (popularly known as the Flying Flea), used by British paratroopers in World War II.
Only 250 units of the Classic 500 Pegasus will be available in India, each unit priced at Rs 2.40 lakh (on-road, Delhi). While it’s available in two shades internationally, Olive Drab Green and Service Brown, for India, only the latter will be on sale as the green is reserved for the Armed forces.
Differences between the limited edition and the standard bike include a Pegasus logo on the fuel tank and the canvas panniers. It also features a leather strap with brass buckles on the battery box, brown handlebar grips, and a tank badge similar to the one used on the Flying Flea. Also, a unique serial number will be stencilled on the tank in the same font as seen on the Flying Flea (India gets the first 250 motorcycles built).
