Many assumed that the TVS Ntorq 150 would be a 14-inch wheel maxi-scooter of sorts, but TVS pulled a surprise by keeping it within the same architecture of the existing Ntorq 125. However, our sister publication, Autocar Professional, has now learned that TVS is in fact developing an all new maxi-scooter and it should be ready by next year

While the TVS Ntorq 150 was designed to offer an expanded version of the capabilities of its highly popular 125cc sibling, this new 160cc platform is likely to go in a different direction. The scooter scene in India is witnessing great change, with there being a fast-growing demand for premium and differentiated options. Within a year’s time, we expect to see new players like the Honda ADV160 and Yamaha NMax 155 going up against existing players like the Yamaha Aerox 155 and Hero Xoom 160.
TVS will probably be ready with its new 160cc liquid-cooled maxi scooter platform by the end of 2027 and it remains to be seen if it goes down the sporty route like the Aerox 155, or ADV-style direction like the Honda ADV160 and Hero Xoom 160 or takes a more conventional maxi-scooter form like the Yamaha NMax 155.
What we do expect to see are bigger wheels (likely to be 14-inchers) and a big focus on performance and technology. Existing and upcoming engines all produce in the ballpark of 14-15hp and you can expect similar if not slightly higher performance from the TVS engine. The company also has huge amounts of connected technology and features baked into its premium electric scooter, the X, and it will be natural for much of that to percolate into this product.
A product like this won’t be just for India and it will likely be exported to multiple markets overseas, including Europe.
