New Hero Xoom spotted testing, could be 125cc model

The new scooter has a sharp design quite reminiscent of the Xoom 110 but with its own unique flavour.

Hero has plans afoot to expand its presence in the premium space with multiple new models spanning different displacements. At the same time, the company is also working on new products in the more price-conscious end of the market, such as this new Xoom model that’s been spied, which we believe could have a larger 125cc engine.

    1. Styling similar to the current Xoom 110
    2. Redesigned rear with split grab rails, LED indicators

At first glance, this seems very similar to the Xoom 110 but once you dive deeper, you can see that the rear is quite different from the current model. The rear reflector has been moved down to the mud guard and the indicators are LED units instead of the halogen bulbs on the Xoom 110. Even the side profile and the panels behind the headlamp are quite different, with more layered design elements on this new Xoom test mule.

Considering that the current Xoom shares its powertrain largely unchanged with the other two 110cc Hero scooters, it could well be the same case with this new Xoom 125 as well. If that is the case, then the same air-cooled, 124.6cc, single-cylinder engine found in the Destini 125 and the Maestro Edge 125 could be on duty here and the output figures aren’t likely to stray too far from the current 9.1hp/10.4Nm. Unlike those two scooters, however, this scooter seems to be running on 12-inch alloy wheels at both ends.

What stays the same as the current Xoom are the large storage cubbies on the front apron and the mirror units.

Considering that the Xoom is positioned above the Pleasure+ and the Maestro Edge 110, the larger Xoom 125 could also go down that route which means its asking price should be more than what the Maestro Edge 125 (Rs 79,356 – Rs 83,806) and the Destini 125 XTEC (Rs 78,988 – Rs 85,478) command. Rivals in the sporty 125cc scooter space include the TVS Ntorq and the Suzuki Avenis
