While Aprilia India has largely been focusing on the RS 457 and Tuono 457 of late, the company has despatched the new SR 175 scooter to select dealers ahead of its July launch. The new Aprilia SR 175 appears to be a replacement for the SR 160.

  1. Aprilia SR 175’s engine is more powerful than the outgoing SR 160’s motor
  2. SR 175 uses a new colour TFT display borrowed from the RS 457
  3. India launch will happen in July 2025

Aprilia SR 175 more details

Uses a newer, more powerful motor and comes with a colour TFT display

Powering the SR 175 is a new air-cooled, 174.7cc, 3-valve, single-cylinder motor. Dealer sources state that the increased capacity has been achieved by a bigger bore, and that the new engine makes 12.92hp at 7,200rpm and 14.14Nm at 6,000rpm, which is an increase over the previous SR 160’s 11.27hp at 7,100rpm and 13.44Nm at 5,300rpm.

The other mechanical components, such as the frame, suspension, brakes and tyres, seem to be the same as those on the SR 160, although this is yet to be clarified. It rolls on 14-inch wheels at both ends, shod with fat 120-section tyres, and has a front disc brake with single-channel ABS, owing to the drum brake at the rear.

What has also changed in the move from the SR 160 to the SR 175 is the new colour TFT display, which seems to be lifted off the RS and Tuono 457. The animations and layout seem to be different, though, and dealer sources have led us to believe that there are different layout options, too. As with the RS and Tuono, this display has Bluetooth connectivity, and you can pair your smartphone with it via the Aprilia app for things like call/notification alerts and music playback. This is a big step up from the dated-looking LCD screen that comes with the SR and SXR models currently.

The styling of this new Aprilia SR 175 is exactly the same as the SR 160, and it continues to be a handsome, sporty-looking scooter with sharp bodywork. The colour palette of the SR 175 seems to be inspired by the RS 457, and so far, the colours that have emerged on the internet are the white/red and purple/red – both shades mimicking the RS.

Aprilia SR 160 price

Dealers we have spoken to have led us to believe that the Aprilia SR 175 is priced at Rs 1.31 lakh (ex-showroom), and this is the same starting price as the outgoing SR 160 (Rs 1.32 lakh-Rs 1.42 lakh). However, this is yet to be confirmed, and we will update this space with more news on the new Aprilia SR 175 as we receive it.
