Harley-Davidson has launched four new 2018 Softail models in India. The motorcycles are part of the American motorcycle maker’s line-up of eight Softail models. The Milwaukee-Eight engine equipped Harleys make their debut in India with prices starting at Rs 11.99 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, India) for the Street Bob and going all the way up to Rs 18.99 lakh for the Heritage Classic. Harley offers two versions of the Milwaukee-Eight engines in the Softail range internationally, the 107 and the higher-capacity 114; India only gets the 107 for now.

The Harley-Davidson Street Bob – Rs 11.99 lakh

A minimalist design philosophy has always been part of the Street Bob's DNA. It is Harley’s entry-level Softail in India, and is priced at Rs 11.99 lakh. It uses the same Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine as the four other bikes. The 107 is a 1,745cc V-Twin motor making a healthy 144Nm of torque from as low as 3,000rpm. As tradition, Harley continues not to quote power figures. The Street Bob also features reworked suspension in the form of new Showa forks in the front and a preload-adjustable Showa monoshock at the rear. The motorcycle also uses an all-new frame which is considerably stiffer and features a neatly hidden rear monoshock, giving the bike a clean, hardtail look while still offering the comfort that comes with rear suspension.

The Harley-Davidson Fat Bob – Rs 13.99 lakh

In Harley’s own words, the new Fat Bob was designed for the zombie apocalypse. With its rectangular LED headlamp, chunky tyres and stubby mufflers, it’s a wild-looking machine that is sure to a lot of heads. The Fat Bob is priced at Rs 13.99 lakh and comes equipped with the same Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine; however, it is tuned to make 145Nm of torque in the Fat Bob. The 2018 Fat Bob also features the new, redesigned stiffer frame and upgraded suspension.

The Harley-Davidson Fat Boy – Rs 17.49 lakh

The Fat Boy is one of Harley’s most popular Softail models. The Fat Boy has developed a name for itself over the years and is most famous for starring in the now iconic film, Terminator 2. The 2018 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy has been launched in India for Rs 17.49 lakh. Similar to the other models, the Fat Boy gets the 107 engine. Other updates include keyless ignition, new fuel tank, updated instrumentation and LED headlamps. The suspension on the Fat Boy also has remote pre-load adjustability. For 2018, the Fat Boy has also lost a healthy 16kg in overall weight.

The Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic – Rs 18.99 lakh

At Rs 18.99 lakh, the Heritage Classic is the company’s most expensive Softail in India. However, it is also one of the highest selling Softails, internationally. The Heritage continues to keep its classic styling, but now rides like a much more modern motorcycle. It is equipped with the same Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine in 144Nm tune. Just like the other models, the Classic also gets an LED headlight and upgraded suspension. The motorcycle has also lost 17kg when compared to the previous model. Other updates include the addition of now rigid, lockable and waterproof saddlebags.
